Dre Singing In conjunction with leading industry Producer (TBA), NBC's "The Voice", Yellow Dog Video, and Stinson Recording Studios, we are proud to announce The Recording Conservatory of Austin's 2016 Unsigned Artist Showcase! -Where the best artists in the country compete in a live recorded showcase for $4,000, 100 free hours of studio time, private auditions for some of the biggest talent discovery TV shows in the nation, and to be seen and heard by some of the most important music industry representatives in the country. TRCoA's Unsigned Artist Showcase 2016


The top 4 finalists will perform a recorded showcase at Stinson Studios. These recorded 2 song performances will be ranked by fan views and judged by:

  • Chris "Frenchie" Smith, legendary Grammy-nominated producer Chris "Frenchie" Smith (Jet, Santana)

  • Eric McLellan began working in the music industry as an intern at Universal Motown Records in 2004. Upon graduating college Eric worked at Sony Music in Creative Services and video production for four years. He came onboard at Sire in 2008 and worked his way up the A&R ranks. Eric is currently Director of A&R at Sire Records / Warner Bros. Records and most recently ADA. His position entails discovering, signing and developing artists to the iconic Sire Records roster and handles all day-to-day A&R duties at the label. Eric's resume includes A&Ring projects for Delta Rae, Ewert & The Two Dragons, Kill It Kid, Ben Fields and Cold Fronts. Eric's first rap signing was Deniro Farrar who he brought to Vice Records and Warner Bros. Records. His most recent signing is UK band Alvarez Kings.

The first step is to register your band for the contest to enter the showcase. TRCoA will then choose 25 bands for the fan voting round. Only the four bands with the most votes will perform in the video recorded showcase at Stinson Studios, where judges and fan views will determine the winner!


Timeline

May 22 - July 26: Artist Submissions
July 27 - August 11: Public voting for the top 25 artists
August 18: Top 4 artists announced
Thursday, August 25: Professionally filmed showcase at Stinson Studios featuring the top 4 artists
September 5 - November 6: Fan viewing of performance videos weighted toward final score
November 6: Judge and Performance Video Views determine winners

Rules

  • Unsigned artist is defined by TRCoA as any band not signed to a major label with national distribution support.
  • All artists entering to compete must have a full band. Solo performers will not be accepted unless they perform with a backing band. Any genre of music is welcomed.
  • The 25 bands competing in the voting round will be selected by TRCoA.
  • The 4 bands playing the Stinson Studios showcase will be selected by fan voting.
  • Each band will perform a 2 song, professionally recorded set at Stinson Studios, with a music video of each song prepared by Yellow DogVideo.
  • Each band performance will be uploaded to our YouTube Channel. After one week, Viewing metrics will determine the "fan favorite".
  • Judges will use the criteria of fan favorite, song writing, performance, and originality to determine the winner of UAS 2016.

1st Prize Winner

  • $4,000 CASH PRIZE
  • 100 studio hours at Stinson Studios, including a full day working on a mix of one song with legendary Grammy-nominated producer Chris "Frenchie" Smith (Jet, Santana)
  • Chance to be selected for a private audition for NBC'S The Voice
  • Two professional music videos from your showcase performances produced by Yellow Dog Video
  • Opportunity to perform at the 2016 UAS Showcase and receive feedback from the 3 Music Industry Professionals/Major label representatives who will be judging the event

  • 1 Free Song (up to 15hrs) at Stinson Studios
  • Chance to be selected for a private audition for NBC'S The Voice
  • Two professional music videos from your showcase performances produced by Yellow Dog Video
  • Opportunity to perform at the 2016 UAS Showcase and receive feedback from the 3 Music Industry Professionals who will be judging the event

  • 1 Free Song (up to 10hrs) at Stinson Studios
  • Chance to be selected for a private audition for NBC'S The Voice
  • Two professional music videos from your showcase performances produced by Yellow Dog Video
  • Opportunity to perform at the 2016 UAS Showcase and receive feedback from the 3 Music Industry Professionals who will be judging the event

  • 5 Hours at Stinson Recording Studios
  • Chance to be selected for a private audition for NBC'S The Voice
  • Two professional music videos from your showcase performances produced by Yellow Dog Video
