The Prize
You've voted and now four artists will compete at Antone's for a 10 song CD produced, recorded, mixed and mastered at Stinson Recording Studios.

The four categories the contest will be judged on are:

  • Crowd Response
  • Songwriting
  • Performance
  • Originality
  The Showcase
We began with 25 bands competing for a 10 song recording session. Your votes narrowed the field to the final four. On Sunday, September 16, the four artists will play at the TRCoA showcase at Antone's. They need your support one last time. Come on down and show your support for your favorite band.
Doors open up at 8 pm. The show is from 9 pm - midnight.

  The Sean Calahan Band
 


The Sean Calahan Band uses music to create an emotional vibe that allows artist and fan to come together in musical synchronicity. The group’s savvy rock offers sharp hooks, catchy melodies, insightful lyrics ­ intelligent entertainment you can wade into. It’s pop friendly but imbued with originality and sweet grooves guaranteed to rock the audience.


  Erin Ivey
 


Back in Austin after a stint as Artist-in-Residence at a music branding firm in Portland, Oregon, Erin Ivey's  voice and her brand of "downtempo folk pop" are garnering national acclaim, with one journalist stating "I would kill for a purr like that."  Erin has been the voice of Apple Computer, her music used in Red Bull Energy Drink promotions, and she works with independent music producers nationwide.


  Estrum
 


Estrum is a female fronted metal band based in Austin, Texas. Their sound blends classic metal with 70’s prog styles to lay a rock-solid foundation for the virtuosic and haunting vocals of front-woman Zena McKelvy. Each song takes the listener on an introspective journey through the lonely desolation of our modern culture. Fans of Tool, Opeth or Pink Floyd are sure to find themselves deeply enthralled with the hypnotic and dynamic sound that is Estrum. 


  John Pointer
 


A one-man wall of sound; the creator of Schrödinger's Cat and John Pointer and Carlos Sosa's BoomBox (now Boombox ATX); John's beatboxing and vocals have been featured in national commercials for Chili's, Schlotzsky's Deli/Austin City Limits, and Wal-Mart. He and his bands have won nine Austin Music Awards. He is an advisory board member of the Austin Music Foundation, was offered a contract from Cirque du Soleil in 2006 as a musician and performer, recomposed the role of Judas in Zach Scott Theater's critically acclaimed bilingual version of Jesus Christ Superstar, and just finished his first solo record, Schizophonic, which has been described as "incredibly engaging, and not in the least for lazy listeners."
