Town Hall Meeting: Austin Sound Ordinance

The Austin Music Commission is conducting a very important Town Hall Meeting this Monday to discuss key issues relevant to the Austin music industry.

Monday, November 5
7:00 pm
Momo's

Of key interest is a proposal to lower the decibel levels in the Austin sound ordinance and impose other restrictions. The proposal would change the requirements for obtaining an outdoor music permit. The person wanting the permit could not be closer than 100 ft from a residence and the decibel limits would be significantly reduced from 85 to 75 and 70 depending on the hour.

The proposed amendment, if adopted, could have a significant effect on the ability to play live music in Austin. That is why this issue is so important to musicians, venue owners and others in the music industry. Please attend the Town Hall Meeting, support the interests of the Austin music industry, and let your voice be heard.

Mike Castoro analogue Seminar @ Misty HIll Audio

On Friday, November 16th Mike Castoro of Wunder Audio and Misty HIll Audio will host a seminar for the students of TRCoA. Misty Hill Audio is one of Austin's premier analog studios and Mike will discuss the history and sounds of the gear in the studio. Mike is also the owner of Wunder Audio which designs and produces EQ's and mics based on the vintage Neve 80 Series Console, AKG C7 and C12, and Neumann U47 products. This is a great opportunity to learn about the classic analogue equipment many of today's plug-ins emulate in a modern digital environment. The event starts at 3 pm and is mandatory for all current TRCoA Students and strongly recommended for all TRCoA's Alumni.

AMF Music Industry Bootcamp Followup

The AMF Music Industry Boot Camp "Tastemakers & Trendsetters: Insider Info from Music Media Icons" event was a great success. The panelists, who spoke at MIBC to a packed crowd, had great insights on of how independent artists can get media coverage in a competitive marketplace, do’s and don’ts in dealing with the media, how to put together a focused and innovative pitch, and how music writers and editors learn about new music.
