The Sean Calahan Band -

Winner of the 1st Annual TRCoA Unsigned Artist Competition

The crowd at Antone's saw a great show by four of Austin's most exciting artists at TRCoA's 1st Annual Unsigned Artist Competition. The Sean Calahan Band, Erin Ivey, Estrum and John Pointer all played great sets making the final voting a difficult decision. Once the judges ballots were counted, The Sean Calahan Band won the competition and the prize of a 10 song CD produced, recorded, mixed and mastered at Stinson Recording Studios (we are already in pre-production and we will give you updates as the album comes along). Thanks to all the bands and fans who participated in this event to make it a hugh success. See you at next year's competition, we are looking forward to it.

Who's in the Studio

Cynsin

Nu synth pop artist Cynsin is in the studio working with John Stinson, founder of TRCoA. The duo of Jackson Blacklock and Rob Huntley manipulate laptops and drum machines to create the sound of Cynsin. Their quirky synth pop sound is influenced by Basement Jaxx, Prince, Beck and LCD Soundsystem. Listen to a clip from Cynsin.

Scott Harris with The Squirrels

Scott Harris, an Advanced Music Production studio, has been in the studio working with The Squirrels. They haven't even grown all their fur yet, but fans and neighbors alike feel the Squirrels' rock-n-roll thunder rain down like nuts on a tin roof. The Squirrels are: Trevor Brooks (Guitar, Vocals), Isak Kotecki (Guitar), Meg Hardick (Bass), and Justin Gray (Drums). Listen Sleep from The Squirrels.

Joseph Radtke and Katalepsis

Katalepsis is in the studio working with Joseph Radtke, a TRCoA Advanced Music Production student. Katalepsis is Brian (guitar and vocals), Wes (guitar and vocals), Eric (bass), and Jeff (drums). Creating sonic mayhem, Katalepsis brings a D.I.Y. ethic to Austin's underground hardcore scene. Their sound is influenced by Botch, Swing Kids, pg. 99, and Portraits of Past. Listen to a clip from Katalepsis.
