Who's in the Studio

Rusty Kotzur with Emersom Biggins Band

Rusty Kotzur , a TRCoA Advanced Music Production student, and The Emmerson Biggins Band have been working in the studio recently. Fused together in 2005 as a side project for Mark Stubby Staab and Todd Marquart of the rock/blues band the Nosmo Kings and Keith Long and Michael Ferg Ferguson of the original hard rock band Lowside they created Emmerson Biggins. With Ferguson on drums, Long laying down the bass lines, Todd on guitar and Stubby on vocals; they have a good time and in turn the crowd has a good time and the whole place turns into a party. Listen to a clip of a song Rusty and the boys in Emersom Biggins have been working on.

Zach Hillyard with NVANE

NVANE was in the studio recently working with Zach Hillyard, a TRCoA Advanced Music Production student. NVANE is bringing back hard rock music the way it is supposed to be played to Austin. No more silly outfits, weird haircuts or eyeliner on stage. Just pure in-your-face heaviness spliced with rich melodies and searing instrumentals. Evocative of early Tool, Alice In Chains, and Soundgarden with hints of newer rock acts such as Disturbed, Deftones, and Korn, NVANE pay homage to their roots with every note they play and every fan they gain. Listen to a clip of a song Zach and NVANE are working on.

Joseph Radtke with The Sweethearts

The Sweethearts have been in the studio recently working with Joseph Radtke, a TRCoA Beginning Audio student. The Sweethearts play catchy, buzz-saw, punk rock songs influenced by The Ramones, Blondie, The Go-Go's, Joan Jett and 60's girl groups. The band is fronted by Linette on vocals, Ren on guitar, Ben on lead guitar, Marc on bass and Joel on drums. Their songs deal with issues everyone can relate to: heartbreak, dreaming, drinking, being young and silly, and just having fun. Listen to a clip of a song Joseph and The Sweethearts are working on.

Austin Youth Orchestra

Stinson Studios recorded the Austin Youth Orchestra's Spring Concerts on April 29 and May 6. The May 6th performance featured the Austin Youth Symphony Orchestra performing the World Premier of 'Contending' by M.L. Daniels. This piece is the 2007 Texas Orchestra Directors Association Composition Contest Winner. Listen to a clip of Contending.
